Brancaster, Norfolk Visitor’s Guide!

Brancaster is a beautiful coastal village renowned for its: sailing, beaches, golf club and most importantly its mussels. There is a great wealth of fishing history and Brancaster is still an active fishing harbour which provides some amazing local produce.

Brancaster, Brancaster Staithe and Burnham Deepdale all comprise of a continuous settlement a long the coast. The nearby village of Brancaster Staithe is a great place to try out sailing, with a local sailing school and shop. You can take lessons in all things sailing relatede. Its been said that Horatio Nelson learnt to sail at Brancaster Staithe.

Brancaster is home to one of the most famous links golf courses in the UK. Known as the Royal West Norfolk Golf Club, it is a 6457 yards long, Par 71. This isn’t very big in golfing terms, but the course its self is very difficult due to the coastal winds.

In Burnham Deepdale you can find a petrol station which is one of the only ones for a good few miles, so this can be a life saver. There’s also a cafe and some nice local shops, its an excellent place for a quick pit stop.

Brancaster is a popular destination for families due to the wonderful beach you can find here. The beach is maintained by the National trust. With amazing views and a great coastal walk, Brancaster beach is a lovely place to spend the day.

Don’t forget to try the local shell fish and fish which is caught in the wash. You can find stalls on the main road and you can buy smoked fish, shell fish and fish in Brancaster staithe.
