Headache Symptoms that Require Medical Attention

As with any kind of pain that you feel in your body, it is normally a warning sign about an injury or illness. Although it is quite rare that headache symptoms are signs of a serious illness, you should still be very careful as they may sometimes indicate a serious medical condition. Therefore, it is advisable to be familiar with your own headache symptoms and to know when to seek medical attention.

So what are the symptoms of headaches that you should be concerned?

If you experience the following headache symptoms, then it will be advisable to seek medical care.

      • A totally new headache that has severe pain

      • A headache that is associated with other symptoms such as dizziness, loss of balance, numbness or tingling, paralysis, speech difficulties, mental confusion, seizures, personality change or vision changes (blurry vision, double vision, or blind spots)

      • Headache that comes with a fever, difficulties in breathing, stiff neck, or rash

      • Headache pain that is so severe that it will wake you up at night

      • Headaches with severe nausea and vomiting

      • Headaches that occur after a head injury or accident

      • A new type of headache after age of 55
