Do it yourself
When I was younger I strongly believed that it was more fun and interesting to take on projects on my own rather than just call in an expert anytime something needs doing. That attitude has gotten me into plenty of sticky messes and strange situations, like the time when I tried to fix a leaky faucet at my in-laws (but that’s another story). In any case, I’ve learned a lot along the way and had some great times with the people around me especially in projects involving woodworking. Projects for woodworking are great because building something from scratch gives you lots of control over the finished product, and it’s less dangerous than trying to fix something important around your house. Remember that while it can be useful to buy woodworking plans, there are also loads of great ideas available for free if you know someone in the business or know where to look around.
