First aid kit contents can vary dramatically from one product to the next. This can be very frustrating when you open one of them up and don’t see what you need for a given situation. The best way to guard against such a scenario is to find out what is in the first aid kit.
You will find that home first aid kits vary from emergency road kits in terms of some of the items that you will find. Some of these kits are very compact and others are much larger. There are some basic items you want to look for with home first aid kits. There should be a couple of pairs of sterile gloves. Dressings to stop bleeding from wounds, disinfectant, antibiotic ointment, bandages, burn cream, eye wash, thermometer, and other basic items such as these are very important to have in one place.
You may be saying you are at home so why having it all in a kit? When you or someone at your home has a medical need there may not be time to rummage around to find items. You need to be able to get to them in a split second so that you can offer relief and reduce the problem at hand. When someone else is at your home to house sit, take care of pets, or watch your children make sure they know where the first aid kit is located.
Emergency Road Kits are also something that you want to have. This is a travel item that you can keep in your vehicles. Some of them are small enough to fit into a glove box. Others are larger and you can place them in your trunk or in a tool box of the vehicle. You always want to be prepared for any type of accident on the road.
It is also a good idea to take emergency road kits with you when you travel. If you are renting a vehicle or using one belonging to someone else you still need to be prepared. You will want to regularly update the items you have too so that you aren’t stuck out there in the side of the road lacking a crucial item for medical care. There are some essential items you should have in your vehicles for emergencies.
These kits should include all of the items in your home emergency kit, flares, blankets, flashlights with extra batteries, and emergency contact numbers for the area you are traveling to, paper towels, pocket knife, bottled water, energy bars, and maps. You can’t control everything that will happen when you are in a vehicle. Yet you can gain peace of mind for being ready for anything with your first aid kit items.
